Keyboard Problem

Q. When I type stuff I keep getting a capital letter at the beginning of every line. This is annoying and wastes a lot of time going back and deleting it and then retyping it in lower case letters. Why does it do this and how can I stop it?

A. I have just received your email requesting help as to why a capital letter appears at the beginning of each line. In answering your request, I would like to ask you a question to determine the possible cause. When you are typing, do you continue with your typing without stopping or do you press enter every time a new line is required?
Hopefully we will be able to rectify this problem as soon as I receive your reply.

Q. Thank you for your reply. Yes I always press enter to start a new line.

A. Thank you for your immediate reply which has given me the answer to your query. When typing, it is best to continue without stopping as the computer automatically moves on to a new line. Each time you press enter, the computer thinks it is starting a new sentence and enters a capital letter.
Hoping this solves your problem.

Q. Thank you so much Prue, this is a great help, is it possible to turn this feature off?

A. Elmer,
Yes, it is possible to turn this feature off. If you have Microsoft Office Word 2007 on your computer, you would need to open a new Word document. In the top left hand corner of the screen is a round button with coloured boxes. click on this and a drop down list will appear. In the bottom right corner of the box click on Word Options. Another drop down list and box will appear. Click on Proofing, third down in the drop down list, then move to the right hand side of the box in the first section called Auto Correct Options and there is a small rectangular box called Auto Correct Options. Click on this and a box called Auto Correct - English (Australia) will appear. Make sure the Auto Correct Tab is selected. Then move down to the third box Capitalize first letter of Sentence and even though the box already has a tick in it, click in the little box and the tick will be removed. Click on OK at the bottom of the box and you should find that every time you press enter to move to a new line, the letter will remain small.
Do not forget that this has turned off the capital letter for a new sentence, so you will need to so this manually.

If you have Microsoft Office Word 2003 on your computer, you would need to open a new Word document, then in the toolbar across the top, click on Tools and a drop down list will appear. From this click on Auto Correct Options and a box will appear with the name Auto Select: English (Australia).

Hoping this answers your query.
